If you have ever joined a public onsale only to watch tickets vanish in seconds, you are not alone. The good news? Presale tickets exist specifically to help fans like you get ahead of the rush.
This beginner-friendly guide explains everything you need to know about getting presale tickets in 2026 - what methods actually work, which presales to prioritize, and how to maximize your chances of scoring seats to sold-out shows.
What Are Presale Tickets?
Presale tickets are tickets made available to a specific group of fans before the general public sale opens. These tickets are sold through major platforms like Ticketmaster, AXS, and Live Nation, and are typically protected by a presale code or special access link.
Think of presales as a head start. While everyone else waits for Friday's public sale, you could be buying tickets on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Key Point:
Presale tickets are the same price as general sale tickets. You are paying for early access and better seat selection - not a discount.
Why Presales Matter in 2026
Concert demand continues to grow every year, especially for major tours and limited-capacity venues. In 2026, presales are one of the most reliable ways to secure tickets without competing against massive queues or automated bots.
Why fans rely on presales:
- Smaller competition: Fewer people have access, so queues are shorter
- Better seats: Premium sections are often available during presales
- Multiple chances: Different presales run on different days
- Bot protection: Many presales use Verified Fan to block scalpers
Best Ways to Get Presale Tickets (Step-by-Step)
1. Artist Fan Clubs and Mailing Lists
Many artists reward loyal fans by offering presale access through official fan clubs or email newsletters. These presales often provide the earliest access - sometimes 2-3 days before the general sale.
How to get artist presale codes:
- Sign up on the artist's official website
- Watch for presale emails 24-48 hours before the sale
- Check spam folders regularly - presale emails often land there
- Join paid fan clubs for priority access to high-demand tours
Pro Tip:
Sign up for artist newsletters months before tours are announced. Artists often reward long-time subscribers with priority access.
2. Ticketing Platform Presales
Major ticketing platforms like Ticketmaster and Live Nation frequently host their own presales. These are usually open to registered users and often use universal codes.

3. Spotify Presale Access
Spotify offers "Fan First" presales to listeners who frequently stream a specific artist. If you are a top listener, you might receive a presale code directly via email.
How to increase your chances:
- Follow the artist on Spotify
- Stream their music regularly (not just once)
- Make sure your Spotify email is one you actually check
- Enable notifications in the Spotify app
4. Credit Card Presales
Credit card companies like American Express, Citi, and Chase partner with ticketing platforms to offer exclusive presales. Access is often granted using the first six digits of your card number.
Credit Card Presale Codes:
Important:
You must complete the purchase with the same card type. Using an Amex code but paying with Visa will not work.
5. Venue and Promoter Presales
Do not overlook venue presales. Many arenas and theaters offer early access to their members or email subscribers. Concert promoters may also run their own presales independent of artists and ticketing platforms.
How to access venue presales:
- Sign up on your local venue's website
- Join venue rewards or membership programs (often free)
- Follow venues on social media for code announcements
- Check local radio stations - they sometimes partner with venues

Presale Tips for Beginners
Having a presale code is just the first step. Follow these tips to maximize your chances of actually getting tickets:
- Log in early: Sign into your Ticketmaster account at least 10-15 minutes before the presale starts.
- Know the time zone: Presales typically start at 10 AM in the venue's local time zone, not yours.
- Have your code ready: Copy your presale code so you can paste it quickly when prompted.
- Save payment details: Have your credit card saved in your account to speed up checkout.
- Use multiple devices: Open Ticketmaster on your phone and computer to increase your chances.
- Be flexible on seats: Have a backup section in mind if your first choice is unavailable.
Pro Tip:
If you are in the queue, do not refresh the page. Refreshing will send you to the back of the line.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- ✗Waiting until presale day to create accounts
Create your Ticketmaster account days in advance and verify your email.
- ✗Assuming presale tickets are cheaper
Presales offer early access, not discounts. Prices are the same as general sale.
- ✗Ignoring venue and promoter presales
These are often overlooked but can have great inventory and shorter queues.
- ✗Missing emails due to spam filters
Add artist and ticketing emails to your contacts to avoid missing codes.
- ✗Wrong time zone
Always check the venue's local time, not your own time zone.
