Winning Strategies

Here's how to maximize your chances of getting comedy show tickets:

Venue-Specific Festival Presale Strategies

Different festival venues have different presale strategies and requirements. Understanding venue-specific approaches helps you optimize your presale strategy for specific festivals. Most festivals use Ticketmaster for ticket sales. However, some festivals use alternative platforms or have their own ticketing systems. Before presale, verify which ticketing platform your target festival uses.

Some festivals offer their own presales through their membership programs. If you're interested in attending a specific festival, joining their membership program often provides presale access. These memberships are frequently free or low-cost and provide benefits beyond presale access.

Major festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo have their own presale strategies. Research the specific festival you're interested in to understand their presale approach and any special programs they offer. Some festivals offer early entry for members, exclusive merchandise, or other benefits.

Secondary Market Strategies for Festival Tickets

While presales are the best way to get festival tickets at face value, understanding the secondary market is valuable for backup strategies. If you miss presales or don't get tickets, the secondary market offers alternatives, though at higher prices. Secondary market platforms like StubHub, SeatGeek, and Vivid Seats allow fans to resell tickets they've purchased. Prices on the secondary market are typically 1.5-3x higher than face value for popular festivals.

Secondary market prices fluctuate based on demand and supply. Prices are typically highest immediately after presales sell out. Prices often decrease as the festival approaches if demand softens. If you're flexible on timing, waiting until closer to the festival date might result in lower secondary market prices.

Festival Presale Timing and Preparation

Understanding festival presale timing is critical for success. Festival presales follow predictable patterns, though specific timing varies by festival and year. Most festival presales open at 10 AM local time on the announced presale date.

Presale windows typically last 24-48 hours. Early bird presales usually last 1-2 weeks. Credit card presales typically last 24 hours. General public sales usually last several weeks or until tickets sell out.

Preparation is essential for festival presale success. Weeks before festivals are announced, sign up for festival mailing lists. Ensure your Ticketmaster account is complete with saved payment information. Download the Ticketmaster app. Set calendar reminders for presale start dates and times. This preparation ensures you're ready when presales open.

Having multiple devices ready is also important. Use your phone, tablet, and computer during presales. If one device experiences technical issues, you can switch to another. This backup approach significantly increases your chances of successfully purchasing tickets.
